I have a 2003 Lance 821 with Atwood wireless remote jacks. It never works right with the remote. Is it possible to do away with the wireless part and go to a wired type remote? Could I just buy a wire...

There's two pieces to your set up. There's the handheld remote and the receiver / control board that the motors are wired too.
I agree, it seems like the control board has a problem, not your remote. I'd find the board and use some jumper wires to apply 12v directly to the motor leads. Maybe your motors on your front jacks are bad. Maybe the wiring is bad.
