I watch the weather as closely as possible and wait things out at a CG.
If no CG is avl., i have asked to park in parking lots of businesses until the winds die down. I can't see any F.D. or P.D. parking area refusing anyone to park their lot to protect your safety and the safety of others while waiting out a dangerous storm.
