We were caught in 25 to 30 mph cross winds in OK and the TX pan handle. Even with a 25 ft. TT it was not much fun, I cannot imagine some of those tall 5vers.
We pulled of the Interstate and took the back roads where we could drive 25 or 30 mph to the next town.
One time in Las Vegas they had 65 to 70 mph wind and we were wind bound in a KOA. Though Las Vegas is not such a bad place to be wind bound, the roads out of town were caught in a dust storm as bad as a winter whiteout.
If we had been out in the open I believe I would have opt for sitting still into the wind.
