Yes there are always a few that get torn up in storms at the beach but every one of those was not tied down correctly. I'm talking manuals here BTW.
Example: There are no less than 30 rental units at MBTP, all of them have their manual awnings out and tied down very securely by park staff. They are out all summner, never go in, even in the worst of storms. Shoot, I'm not sure of they even roll them in over the winter.
As long as your fabrics not dry rotted and YOU KNOW HOW TO TIE IT DOWN RIGHT, it'll be just fine.
Electric awnings are a different subject, mines in/out all the time at the beach.
