For what it is worth. I tried to add a few more screws to the awning rails as it seemed to be widely spaced. Unfortunately there was nothing to screw into except the aluminum siding.
Whatever bracing is used to support the awning rails did not run the length of the rails.
Just a note of caution when installing new awning rails.
