Axle ratio

What is the best web site to go to to get comprehensive list of vehicle specs using a vin number.

Assuming your looking for your axle ratio you can not get that from a vin number.
That information will be listed in the option codes in your glove box.
You need to look up the option codes for your truck.

Ditto.....not in the VIN. Example: On my GM truck, the code GT4 is on the sticker in my glove box which is 3.73 ratio. GT5 is 4.10
  • So are you looking for a Freightliner? GM? Ford?

    It really matters.

    What model year?

For Fords, you get the rear axle model number from the drivers side door post, and will say something like axle 42. Then you look up that model year towing guide, and see what 42 means. They have about 25 axle ratio's and limited slip, electronic locking, ect.

    Good luck,

    Fred.
  • CompNine offers a service for a fee to find out. But for most trucks, you can find the information for free. Which brand do you have?
  • All depends on the truck. Ram lets you put it into their site and see your window sticker. Also, there may be a tag on the axle.
