It all comes down to your own preferences. As stated, both have their plus and minuses so while both will fit your needs, it will come down to your wants on deciding between the two.
The Powerstroke and Duramax are more peppier than the Cummins off the line and that has a lot to do with Ram's throttle mapping and fuel(power) management in the first few gears to save the transmission. Ford's throttle mapping alone is a lot better than the Rams, and throttle mapping can play a big role in perceived drivability. I have been tuning vehicles for years and just tuning the throttle better with more sensitivity has always made people think I added a lot more power but didn't. Things like the BD throttle sensitivity booster will go a long way in making the truck feel more peppy off the line even without even adding any power. So if you go with the Ram and the peppiness bothers you, that is one way to get rid of it for the most part without touching ECM.
