Jun 23, 2016The tank flusher is a little nozzle installed in the tank with several jets in it that's supposed to clean the tank by spraying water everywhere. Often times tank flushers aren't as effective as people like to think. Only one flusher gets installed and a lot of times in some of the dumbest locations. It does a great job of scrubbing that one area, but the rest of the tank remains mostly untouched. There's been some that have added more flushers to their tank which seem to be pretty effective.
I've tested my own flusher to see how effective it is. I ran the flusher for several minutes with the valves open. I was able to get some of the leftovers out, but it wasn't very much. Next I closed the valve for a minute or so to fill the tank slightly. I got even more of the leftovers out, but as the next test showed, there was still a lot left. Lastly I let the flusher fill the tank up completely then pulled the handles. Quite a bit came flying out and on a subsequent refill, I had a minimum amount of the leftovers that came out.
To me the flusher is a very effective and convenient way to fill the tank in preparation for a dump. Typically I'll use the flusher to top off the tank before heading to the dump. Dumping a full tank will help get most junk out of there. A tank wand is tough to beat when it comes to cleaning power and water conservation. When I get back home I'll hit the tank with a tank wand to get those stubborn bits that love to cling to walls.
