I have a 1/2 bath in my Open Range bunkhouse. While I totally like my unit. The 1/2 bath maybe more trouble than it's worth
When we take friends or have visitors the 1/2 bath is a nice option. However when its just the 4 of us. The 1/2 bath becomes an added dumping chore.
The 1/2 bath has a separate gray and black tank. That has to be monitored/maintained/emptied.
Instead of having one fairly full black tank. I have 2 fairly empty black tanks. A full tank empties easier than a empty tank and requires less flushing and rinsing.
Not a big deal but the additional 1/2 bath adds another camping chore that interferes with my relaxation time.
If my family were larger maybe I'd appreciate the 1/2 bath more, but currently I see the 1/2 bath as added work and a feature I could do without.
Don't get me wrong having 2 baths can have its advantages, however just be sure to consider you will double your effort when emptying the tanks.
I'm sort of placing 1/2 baths in the same category as outside kitchens. Nice features but at the end of the day I could make better use of the space as simple storage vs. having two of the same rooms/functions.
Is an RV really big enough to require 2 toilets,2 sinks,2 microwaves, etc. or could the same space be used to improve the layout in other ways?
In short the convenience of the additional 1/2 bath has not been worth the inconvenience and additional work when it comes time to dump.
