You might also want to consider whether the converter/charger in your rig that normally maintains the battery is even doing it's job properly. Many of us have a ubiquitous WFCO converter that almost everyone (myself included) reports will rarely if ever go into it's rated 14.4 volt bulk charging mode. :M Add to that the fact that many if not most trailers are wired with inadequate gauge wire between the converter/charger output & the battery and it's no wonder batteries die prematurely.

I have a 30 amp plug at home, and in the past have left it turned on, but it totally cooked my battery. I may have been remiss in checking the water level, but my thinking now is to just have it on my work bench tethered to a charger - in sight in mind.
Heck, I've never seen my inverter/charger. It's behind a wall in back of the fuse box. I can hear the fan running on it. I have no documentation on it.
