Whether a fridge is on electric or propane there is a DC draw....control circuit uses DC power. Even more when on propane for the gas valve.
On electric the draw would be from the AC power, 3.5A AC for electric heater.
Now if it was a 3 way and run on 12V heater......yes that would be a heavy DC draw, 27A.
But OP stated nothing on/running and batteries don't last.
Bad batteries and/or bad converter
