I'm not sure what type of battery separator Lance in their TC's but if it was diode based I would wire around it.

Diodes can be less than 0.7V.
Lance uses a VSR (voltage sensing relay). It's an electronic circuit that closes a relay when the truck input exceeds a certain voltage level. When on, there is no voltage drop in the charge circuit.
