And Ram is doing it with 20% fewer cylinders. What would it be like if Cummins was a V8?
And the Ford will most likely get the better fuel economy just like today.
Don't you think they would have included that as a test in their commercial if it were true?
Why? It's a year out and they are not Ram who needs gimmicks to sell trucks. - blt2skiModeratorFOr the two comparing the GM 4500/5500 to the F450/550, THe 4500 was equal and could be had in GVWR's equal to BOTH the 450/550. The 5500 was equal to the GM 6500 with gvwr's from 19500-26K lbs. With the 5500 getting the 6.6 v8 dmax and the 8.1 v8. The 6500 only had options for a cat or later the Isuzu I6 motors. But what the 6500 had that the 5500 did not, was better trans options, 2 sp rear ends etc, so the gcwr would get upwards of 40-50K lbs, vs the 6.6 dmax only being at 26K initially, later it was moved up to 33K with the 2000 series allison, Which is a stronger version of the 1000 series, with a 2 sets of gears available.
Really when it comes down to which is the BEST truck......let your blinken rear end decide. At the end of the day, they all have good and bad faults etc.
Marty - Bionic_ManExplorerHas Ford announced it's new HP and torque numbers?
- drillkingExplorerI can't wait for the 2015 Super Duty's to come out. I was reading about them today. I may have to upgrade to one! Go Ford! (everyone's entitled to their opinions)

I'm not sure it matters...big-rig trucks run inline-6 engines for the most part. IMHO what matters most is total displacment.
I prefer the simplicity of an inline engine to a V8, but that's the topic of another thread...mikeputc wrote:
All are amazing trucks. The real winners are customers. What other auto segment with only three competitors has seen these kinds of improvements?

You can make your own decision about. the video. I'm explaining how we grouped and tested the trucks.
It was fun to watch. If the Ram would have inched out the other two, our local Ram fans would have broke out the nachos and cheese in celebration! If the GM would have wheezed out a victory, our local GM geezer would have dropped his cane with excitement! Some folks know how to have fun, some don't.:B - gmcsmokeExplorerGotta love the butthurt fanboys; results don't go my way the test was obviously flawed; results go my way look how awesome my truck is.
- HannibalExplorerI have no trouble believing the test results. Looks like they had fun, nothing broke or melted and they all made it to the top within a short time of each other. Good for all three.
