You-Tube has lots of videos on brakes inspections and wheel bearing re-greasing as well. Very easy DIY job. Especially if one wants to save lots of mandatory maintenance dollars.
If you can grease the bearings with a hand pump and buy a $20.00 IR gun at Harbor Freight then repacking once a year regardless of miles towed (most don't tow 12,000/miles a year) is a waste of time and money. I would agree an inspection every couple of years is reasonable.
