Bearings vs grease?

2007 jayco with original dexter bearings, noticed 1 wheel hotter than others. Pulled wheel and seal had a leak, grease on brakes, etc. bearings look good. , would you replace all wheel bearings because they are 6 years old, or just the 1 ????? Thanks in advance...
  • Part of the spring ritual for DH. Usually just repacks every other year, but checks them every year. We carry a spare set just in case.....what's the chances of finding a place open on a Sunday heading home that happens to carry just what you need????

No , original, maybe 8000 miles on tt

It is recommended, check your TT manual, to repack once a year. With the moisture/rain you see in FL, might not be a bad idea. Also allows for brake inspection/adjustments when repacking.
  • No, I would not replace them. Bearings that are kept lubed will last for hundreds of thousands of miles.
I wouldn't even replace the one unless you see damage. Most likely the extra heat was caused by the greased pads. Sometimes they will run VERY hot that way.
  • I always replace brakes at both ends of the axle to ensure same braking performance especially on wet pavement.
