The Diesel I have is the first Diesel I have ever owned. I, too, was worried about more costs and all of that. I do spend more but I can't do an apples to apples comparison because I had f150's prior to my f250. And honestly, it isn't much more.
I was worried about the emissions system in my truck as well. I have 39,000 miles in just over a year and 1/2 and I have had no issues. I run motorcraft cetane booster on every tank and try to avoid fuel stations that look as if the diesel pump is rarely used.
With all that said, I am, and always have been, meticulous with maintenance and have always educated myself on what I was going to own. I researched everything I could before making the switch to a diesel. I find it fun actually. And it gives me confidence to know that I should get many miles/years out of this truck. So after owning this truck, I find the nuances of owning a diesel enjoyable.
