Bedrug Review.. An Opinion..

New truck. Finally received our canopy and got that installed ady before yesterday. (SnugTop Supersport with a host of options - very nice canopy but that's another topic).

We had received a Bedrug as part of our truck purchase so yesterday the wife and I set about installing it.

- The directions for our Ram were horrible. Instead of giving model specific directions, they list a variety of models and the different steps for each under a single heading so you have to search the parts listing and specific model every time you move to the next step.

Luckily we didn't need the directions. After watching a few YouTube installs we took the best practices from each, added our own, and developed our plan. It's a pretty easy thing to do if you take a breath and take your time.

- It's a very, very nice product. Very durable, or so it appears. The seams and velcro were well sewn (the wife sews so she is super critical when it comes to this kind of thing.) The RAM logo on ours was also well done and looks great.

- The included velcro is industrial and they give you plenty of it. We we able to add a few extra tabs where we thought it would give us a better fit and still had leftovers.

- The fit is excellent. We were careful to move slowly and push the slack out of each section before we removed the tabs and actually stuck the velcro to the bed. Overall we believe the fit we achieved is as good or better than the best result we saw on the web.

- Holy crow is it comfortable back there. We had a thick rubber mat in the back of our 2500 and that is like crawling on your knees through gravel and broken glass compared to this. It's plush.

- Durability remains to be seen, but we use our truck exclusively as a tow vehicle and light cargo hauler. No gravel or soil or mulch or whatnot - for that we grab a $20 Home Depot rental and go at it. LOL.. For how we use our bed, this thing will last forever.

No matter how you use it, it comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and lifetime limited warranty and the advertised capabilities for the product are pretty intense so...

Overall - extremely pleased with it. We probably took three hours to clean, prep, test fit, and install the Bedrug, but we also ended up with a really good fit - no sagging or 'bubbles' or drooping edges.

Would I buy one? Not knowing what I know now, probably not. Knowing what I know now, absolutely.

Bonus - it matches the liner of our SnugTop perfectly and really looks and feels nice. In case anyone was wondering.

YMMV.

The truck is finally done - mods complete. Now if our darn camper would get here we could finish that deal and get on the road.

  • I've had a Bed Rug in my signature truck since new. I've done terrible things to it like dumping dirt on it and allowing it to mold. I've drug plywood over it and had sharp objects impale it.
It has performed perfectly. I washed it and it's fresh as new.
It nice to find a quality product these days.
Oh and I have a SnugPro canopy with the solid molded doors on the sides. It's great for camping or working out of.
  • Had a "Bedrug" in my previous truck, have one in my present truck and will have a "Bedrug" in my next truck in the future. After purchasing the first one, I would not be without one. Easy on the knees and on any cargo.
  • I'll echo all of the above. Ours has been in use for a little over a year and a half under an Undercover one-piece tonneau cover. I like several things about it: 1) the bed finish didn't have to be ground or abraded for installation, and 2) the soft nature protects the types of things I carry. In the next year or so, we'll be replacing the tonneau cover with a folding or retractable cover and installing a fifth wheel hitch. After talking everything through with my dealer, I think we'll go ahead an cut out the strips in the BedRug to install the hitch and continue with the BedRug.
  • I find ours much easier on the knees and it really does stop our 'stuff' from sliding around a lot. Our was a custom order and really almost dropped right in with very little effort.
  • I had one installed in my new truck last May... It is by far the best bed liner to date that I have had... It can get soaked completely and dry all the way within 30 minutes... no stain... love it
  • I had one in my 2004 F250 long bed with a fiberglass tonneau cover. Really liked it. I did not haul much in the way of heavy or abrasive stuff in the bed, but after 3 years it still looked great. But after buying a 5er and a new truck, I went to a spray in bed liner. But I would also recommend the Bed Rug in the right circumstances.
