Bent Jack

I have a bent jack on my 2008 Arctic Fox 990. It is a Rieco Titan, electric jack. The outer tube has just enough bend that the inner tube will not slide up in it. If any body has a old jack that is not working or has a burnt up motor your are interested in getting rid of let me know. Or have an idea how to straighten a bent tube. thanks all help appreciated.
  • Since the Reico jacks are round you might consider going to a muffler shop and see if they can do anything. They have hydraulic presses and mandrels for bending round tubing without collapsing it.

That is body shop estimator code for "We don't want this job". Shop around. I'll bet you can find a small owner/operator shop which will welcome a quick job like this - no hassle with insurance companies, insurance adjusters, etc. Offer them cash as it will cut down on their paperwork. ;)
  • gbsb, that is pretty sad about the body shop. I have gotten 2 different things straightened at the body shop I go to and it was given back to me for free both times. I was there at closing time with a pizza and some beer to show my appreciation.
  • Wow, $252 to straighten it. Amazing. I guess I'd try to straighten myself!
  • Took the jack tube to a body shop today they looked at it and said sure we can straighten it. cost $252.00. E-mailed the manufacturer and inquired about parts but they do not sale parts. They offered me a new leg less power head for $235.00 including shipping so that is the way that goes. Thanks for all the input. Being new to truck campers I have a lot of questions and few answers. I do Thank every one for the help.

  • Wrap a chain around the tube. Then wrap the other end around a tree and SLOWLY pull it out. I bent mine and it works fine.
