Not sure we want the island but your looks beautiful!!!
Islands take away floor space but really add counter space and the ability to "entertain" with drinks, meals, etc.
Ours is a 2005 Cougar 304BHS, quite a bit different than the pics above, but it suits us much better.
I tried to pick a model that might be along the lines of a "couple's camper" ;)
We put about $2k into our new-to-us camper this Spring for a new awning, new cooling unit for the fridge, added 4 6v GC Batteries and custom battery box and cables on the front, better and larger converter/charger, 1800watt pure sinewave inverter, automatic transfer switch, electric tongue jack, all new tires, converted almost everything to LEDs, new ceiling vent fan in the bathroom, installed Fantastic fan into the bedroom ceiling vent, new fridge vent, new vent lids, added vent covers, painted plastic parts, hard start capacitor for A/C, and a whole bunch of this-and-thats.
And we're still well under 1/3 the price of new, all-in. And paid for when we hitched up. Everything is 100% functional and only minor exterior wall visual items, like a few ripples in the fiberglass on the rear top and a small one on the front. No water intrusion and no damage. I may or may not address those. Might just go camping ;)
It all depends on what is right for YOU. Layout, age and amount of effort you are willing to put into it, and what you want it to do.
Many of our upgrades are custom things we wanted to do. Maybe you can get them as options or included in the newer models (ie LEDs are standard in most new RVs now)
There are folks here with 50 and 60 year old campers and there are folks who might get a new camper every 3 yrs.
Good luck in your search! Exciting times :) :C
