..Sounds like an awesome engine to have in a vehicle that one hopes to get a lot of mpg out of...Glad to see the R&D is working out....I'd jump on it in a passenger car in a heartbeat, be great for all the driving one puts on their car in every day "running around"..

About as much HP and Torque as my motorcycle engine had 20+ years ago, as it was a 4 cycle 4 cylinder and got roughly 65 MPG. OR My long and very heavy 4 cycle touring snowmobile engine about 10 years ago but never measured the MPG closely but it was easy on fuel. I don't see a rubberband 1.0 liter engine being any good for anything but a very small and light commuter vehicle for a couple people in the USA or a family of 2 adults and 2 small kids crammed inside in Europe as they drive such little distances and the fuel is outrageously priced there. Yes, we've been there and know as our son owned an automotive components manufacturing business in the Midlands of England which he has sold and moved back to Michigan.I'm not impressed in the least with this engine!

I'm not impressed in the least with this engine! Did you read the specs? Your motorcycle engine may have had 123 hp but I doubt it put out 148 ft./lbs of torque at 1400 or any other rpm. Probably had peak power output at 10,000 rpm which translates into only about 60 ft./lbs of torque. Anyway, this motor has more hp and torque than my 2 liter engine in my Jetta, which may not impress some guys but certainly impresses me!

A motorcycle with a direct injected turbo charged 1000cc engine would be a hoot! There probably is such a beast already but I'm not aware of it.

Nope, not really other than they should tax them at least $300 extra a year. $100 is way to little as they still take up space on the roads and don't contribute their fair share in gas taxes. $500 sounds even better!

Amazin advances? They use diesel-electric during WWII to power subs and no one has come out with a diesel-electric hybrid like Prius yet. They don't want you to get good mileage as the state of VA has proven by taxing a Prius $100 extra a year because it does'nt use fuel. See anythign wrong with this picture?

We all know there are about 20 engines on the list?
It is not the engine of the year,period, its the engine of the year in its displacement class.
Begs the question how many were considered ? How big is the class?
I think its from 1L to 1.3L ?

Good for Ford but not really a size we are interested in?
