- srt20ExplorerYour 2003 Yamaha sled didnt get 20mpgs either. Apples to Oranges.
What's does the car engine get? 35, 40mpgs? - travelnutzExplorer IIHA HA! That didn't take long...
- phenrichsExplorerWhen are they going to quit fooling around and put it in the expedition?
- bmanningExplorerMy $.02:
It will easily and comfortably tow a 6,000 lb trailer at highway sppeds with the family in the vehicle! Maybe make mountains look like valleys with all that power 1.0L power!
LOL - travelnutzExplorer IImich800,
DUH! The Honda Goldwing has 118hp OEM and 125 torque! Acceleration has everything to do with the weight being moved whether it be a wheelbarrow or an 80,000 lb OTR truck. linear!
Heck, one of out Trailblazers with an inline 6 having 4.2L has 275 hp and 275 torque and the other one with the same engine has 291 hp and 277 torque and it's called a light tow vehicle. So what would you call a 1.0L engine with 123 hp and 148 torque? Inept light weight grocery getter or intown ultra-light commuter?
Next I'll probably see someone post that it will easily and comfortably tow a 6,000 lb trailer at highway sppeds with the family in the vehicle! Maybe make mountains look like valleys with all that power 1.0L power! - FunWWExplorerI wonder what kind of boost its pumping? Anyone catch that anywhere?
- fla-gypsyExplorerWith the right gearing and transmission this little EB engine could do very well in a mid size car with the power it makes.
- The_TexanExplorerThat's alright, his mileage figures were a long stretch of the truth too. My Honda Goldwing Aspencade does NOT get anywhere near the mileage he claims. In fact, many fuel efficient cars get better mileage than the Goldwing.

Additional: 1975 Honda Goldwing's had a 999cc (1L 4 cyl engine). Listed weight wet for a Glodwing is 908 lbs wet per wikipedia and you can check it. Now add 2 adult passengers and the weight was usually well over 1200 lbs. It would simply plant you and your passenger back so hard on the sissy bar that you couldn't move as we know. Got 50-60 mpg on the highway as we know. By 2001 the Goldwing had 1832cc (1.83L) and is a rocket with 400+ lbs of passengers/gear and a loaded camping trailer hooked on behind (total of usually well over 1700 lbs) and still gets 50 mpg on the highway at 60-65mph, about 30-35 city. Honda engines are far from high revving and low revving at highway speed.
Why then should the 40 year later Ford 1.0L engine impress me as the numbers don't support it?
Motorcycle stats:
Power: 82.00 HP (59.9 kW)) @ 7500 RPM
Ford stats:
123-horsepower between 1,400 and 4,500 rpm, and 148 pound-feet of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 rpm
That is a 50% increase in HP. Seem like an improvement to me. You cannot compare the acceleration of a motorcycle to a car. - travelnutzExplorer IIPlease! I'm not knocking the new Ford engine as a very small light weight vehicle engine as it is. I see it as a lot hype about so little and it's in the "TOW VEHICLE" section of an RV forum where some grunt is what's really needed. Put that 1.0L engine in a little tow behind a MH and it will get the RV'ers around towns etc. That's a "towed" vehicle not a "tow" vehicle!
