Three cylinder, 1000cc turbocharged.....engine of the year ? I hope I'm not reduced to driving a vehicle with an engine smaller than many motorcycle engines.
Although the way gas prices are going...somehow it wouldn't surprise me if this type of engine was in a future car.
I'm not crazy about turbos or superchargers....would rather have more cubic capacity and more cylinders.
We've managed to decline the little roller skate cars so far but for those who prefer them, this engine in a Fiesta sounds like it will be a good thing. I'd like to see Ford offer a 5.0L V8 Ecoboost. With what the 3.5L produces, I can only imagine it would be quite a beast! - HannibalExplorer

What a dinky little engine. I wonder if it will fit into a model airplane:) - joshuajimExplorer II

Good idea... go with the Donorcycle - Water-BugExplorerThis needs to be moved out of the TV forum. The Around the Campfire Humor forum is probably more appropriate. My .049 model airplane engine has more HP and torque per litre than anything that Detroit ever built. So what !!!

BTW, a 1.0 liter engine would not likely to be the engine in a 3,000 lb auto frame. More like a 2000 to 2400 lb curb weight vehicle and then put 4 humans and full fuel in that vehicle and tell me all about the tremendous power you'll experience.
Try more like 2,700 lbs. The 5 door US Fiesta has to worry about little things like crash testing, airbags, ABS, emissions. You know, a bunch of stuff that your little old motorcycle didn't even dream about.

Don't want to shock you but ALL of the present and future vehicles of all size vehicles and models are undergoing big weight reductions programs to shed hundreds of pounds per vehicle. Pay attention to the upcoming fuel economy mandates that have already been established. 2700 lbs of vehicle weight for the present Fiesta now will be 2300-2400 or less in a year or two as a lot more thin plastic and several other very light materials are in the works and going to be used. Even though automotive engineering and component design has been my life's work (now retired), I want no part of and 2000 to 2500 lb vehicle with any of my family in it as it's like a ping pong ball being smacked by a baseball in an accident.
The results won't be pretty for the passengers inside the very light vehicle/ping pong ball. Seen way too much actual evidence of those type results in the many crash tests I've been blessed to watch/attend. I'll be driving a 5,000 to 8,000 lb vehicle as long as I live and and so will my wife and also be very strongly urging my family to do the same. Saving a few bucks per week on fuel used means absolutely nothing as it doesn't help one IOTA when they close the casket due to a vehicle crash or accident. Think about it! Being the richest person buried in the cemetary doesn't appeal to me in the least! The big and heavy vehicles will be on the roads for at least 20 years after they aren't made any longer and do you think the cargo/OTR trucks are going to get tiny and light in weight? Gee, I sure do like my over 7,000 lb CC LB 4X4 diesel truck and the RV's it hauls and pulls!
I can get the same 6 bags of groceries etc in the big truck and I can crammed inside the tiny vehicles of today and tomorrow however, our truck still has plenty of room for our large dog along with the 6 bags.
You, however may have a different outlook and preferences and it's no skin off my nose! - FordloverExplorer
