Best half ton truck to own out of warranty

Just wondering, which would you choose?

I've had 5.4's and a 6.8. Both were great reliable motors.

Here are my basic requirements...
Basic towing up to around 6000 lbs. Mostly just a daily driver. Price in the 12-15k range range ... Mileage 80-100k. Able to haul 4 people comfortably. I am not above considering a full size SUV either.

Suggestions?

    GM 2500HD 6.0L or 1500HD. Seems to get the same fuel economy as the 5.3L of same vintage and

    $15k can get you into a 2010+ GM 1-ton van 6.0L/6-spd. Besides "it's a van", you get far lower miles, 6-spd trans, and decent FE.

    What brand do you like best? That is the one.
    Company I used to work for used Fords that generally went 250K miles before trading in. I always thought the seats were the most uncomfortable of any truck I ever owned. MY Chevy had a better seat for my butt. Drive a Ram now and am pleased with it. Pick the flavor you like best. Any used truck with 100K miles on it will have about the same number of issues.
