You're going about this in a roundabout way. You love the truck, but you want better seats. So keep the truck and put better, more comfortable seats in it!
Some research shows that bad posture when seated is the primary cause of back pain. Modifying the seat could alleviate this.
Googling your home zip code I find 50 automotive re-upholstery shops.Use of materials such as Memory foam, gel foams, dual density foam, air foam, adjustable air, zero gravity etc.
A good upholstery shop specializing in these things can build you a custom seat cushion for your truck seat. Maybe with the help of a Chiropractor or spine specialist. Cheaper than buying a new truck! ;)
Good luck!
Sooper: Unless Ram has radically changed seat design, I don't think the OP would gain much by an upholstery shop refurbishing the stock seats. I have an '05 3500 (and a multi-level lumbar spine fusion) and the stock seats suck, and that's being charitable. I did add 1 1/2" dense furniture foam to the driver seat; it did raise my butt and lower back to a point I get a little more low back support, but still not real comfortable. The other issue I have with the Ram seats is the short length of the seat sort of cuts into the mid thigh area. Nothing you can do to fix that. That's a Ram design failure.
OP: I would personally give the nod to Ford for comfortable seats and interior. When I was working in the fire service as a field supervisor, my posterior spent over 9 hours a shift in a Ford Expedition, Excursion, or F250 making rounds of stations, and I gotta say my back and legs never felt like they do after logging several hours behind the wheel of my Ram.
