Not so much loving or not loving the truck, we also need more cab room. Electrical problems are also starting to creep in. I like the truck for commuting or lumber runs; long distance towing not so much. I'm hearing good things about the gen 4 Rams having much better seats. In any event, we do plan on driving several trucks prior to decision time.
In your OP you said "I'm not getting rid of it, as it's been a good truck" but here you sound like you're looking for a new truck.
Which is it?
Both. I'm keeping the truck, as it has been perfect for commuting/lumber runs/etc, but sucks for long distance towing; my wife can't get comfortable in the seat (not enough back support or recline, along with an odd placement of the headrest)and my back hurts after a couple of hours. We need something much more comfortable for long hauls; I would think about a class C more seriously, as it would probably be the same or cheaper than a new truck, but we may be having a special needs conversion done the the fiver and will need a truck. It sucks, since the truck will be paid for and the driveline is nearly bulletproof (after Suncoast works their magic on the trans), but I consider it an investment to have something that will not fatigue us to the point not being able to enjoy the trip.
I keep hearing Ford cloth seats are very comfy, though my 2000 250 Lariat seats were awesomely comfortable, like a broken in leather jacket and shoes, and wish I had them sitting in my garage right now. I drove a new Longhorn and, though better, still felt wrong to me, i.e. couldn't get comfortable, lumbar and side support were lacking, and back starting hurting after a few minutes (due to not getting the seat position perfect I'm guessing). Maybe after a few thousand miles would be good, but don't want to drop that kind of cash to find out the seats suck.
