If you keep trading in every few years it's not bad. Owning an old truck that's not worth anything and trying to buy a new truck is tough. If you have a 3-4 year old truck that's paid for and sell it. You have a lot more for a down payment. If you have no trade in value then you need a big down payment to keep the payments low.
But yes the prices are darn high and I imagine many buyers have high payments as well.
