Best Vent Fan

I have a Maxxair fan, which is reversable. It has 3 speed settings.

do you mean infinite/variable speeds?

Why don't you just put the reversible switch into the Fantastic fan? That is a whole lost less work and money than swapping it out. The fan is the same except for the switch. While you are at it you can put in the three speed switch (and the thermostatic control if you like).

I purchased, but not yet installed, a Maxxir unit based on a lot of threads on this forum. Try searching.

I did pretty much what you are describing… I installed a Maxxfan in the space where the stock Fantastic Fan was and moved the exhaust only FF to the bathroom.
These are both very good products, but I like the Maxx bit more than FF the because it is reversible and can be open/on rain or shine.

If you want to go all out and get one that has 14 speeds forward and in reverse and is remotely controlled.

X2, ++++. I spec'd a MaxxFan for the Tiger when ordered in '06. Love it, mainly because it can stay open 24/7 unless it's too cold. I've had one easy-to-fix failure... the 'lid not open' safety switch contacts got dirty. Cleaned them, and hey presto!, back up & running. It is just 3-speed either direction, tho'.

You can purchase a 6600R upgrade kit for $160.00, gives you everything you want plus rain sensor.

I like the upgrade idea, didn't know they had them. I will probably go with the 5000 upgrade with reverse switch and temp sensor, current fan has temp sensor. Awesome! Only around $60.
