I'm not too worried about the loss of tread life.....30-40K is all I expect out of a tire that is on a HD diesel truck full time.
Some of my research shows that when the T/A's lose about half their tread they become more noisy.
How is the highway tracking of the tires?
Did you see any loss in MPG's with the T/A's?
I never had any problems on highway or off ... and this is 30 years and lots of trucks, some 1500, some 2500. I've recently read that BFG changed the composition of their tires, so am not sure how that affects the performance at this point. You might investigate that somewhere.
In all this time, I had one tire with a warranty issue, and BFG sent me a check once I filed a claim, as we had to replace it on the road away from home. So it took awhile ... Otherwise, no problems with the tires.
Never noticed noisy tires except when they get worn and ready to replace. Sorta the last 5000 miles, or less maybe, but I'm thinking that's just wear and loss of the cushioning factor on a new deep tread pattern. And it's telling you to buy new tires.
Let me know what you find out about the new composition, if anything. I'm getting ready to dump these OEM before heading west in May for a few months, so will be looking at that myself too.
Whopps, on edit: Can't really say about mileage, as I've always upgraded tires pretty quickly on the truck after buying it. If it is, it's not much ... I was getting 14/15 empty on my last 2500 w/6.0 and 3:73 ... and this new 2015 2500HD w/6.0 and 4:10 gets better 16/17 empty, and both run about 12 hauling my camper flat, mountains about 10, or so. (3000 lbs) ... this one does not have BFG yet. The 6.0 - 4:10 really performs on the hills though, nice power train.
