Hello, all. As a follow up to my previous topic, I had 4 new BF Goodrich Commercial T/A LT 235 85R16 Load Range E tires installed on my fifth wheel on Friday. I had them installed at Discount Tire in Burlington, WA, and I would highly recommend these guys to anyone in the area looking for tires. They were very friendly, fast, and extremely good at their jobs. It only took them approximately 1/2 hour to remove, dismount, install the new tires, balance, and reinstall and torque the wheels. They also put the weights on the inside of my aluminum wheels which I was very happy with. They also installed steel valve stems.The tires look fantastic and I noticed that the trailer was very stable when towing it home today. I wanted to thank everyone here for their advice and experiences. I am thankful for the fact that I held out to have LT tires installed and am very happy with my choice. I am sure that we will have many trouble free miles ahead now.Brad

Brad, Hope you have as good luck with yours as I have mine. They have taken me all over the U.S. including up to Alaska. I bought them in 2008 and after 30,000 miles I swear they look new. I did replace one because I flat spotted it when the emergency brake cable got cough on something in the bed. When I traded the 2005 Everest for a 2010 Everest I traded the BFGs off of the 2005 and put them on the 2010.I will be replacing them after we do our Florida trip this winter and I believe I can get a couple hundred dollars for them on crigslist Good Luck and Safe Traveling Jerry

I have had good luck with BFG's and Discount Tire. I know my trailer rides smoother with LT tires on it....

Great tires! Mine were recalled and replaced with Michelins. If I had gotten another set of Commercial T/As I would have been perfectly happy..B.O.

Congrats! I just put 6 new ones on my fiver. Only negative I can see is the gap appears to close to use my ratchet chalks.

Brad why did you choose Goodrich Commercial T/A's vs. another commercial grade tire? I've been buying Michelin Rib tires for a long time for our trucks & 5'er. I'll need tires for one of our trucks by the end of this year and Michelin tires have just gone through the roof on cost...especially when compared to the Goodrich T/A's. Got BFG's on my 5er also with 25,000 miles. Picked up a nail last year of which my TPMS alerted me to a low tire. Changed the tire went on down the road. Had tire repaired and reinstalled on 5er

I also went through the LT tire research earlier this year and ended up with the BFG Commercial T/A. This tire, the Duravis 250, and Mich Ribs seem to be the 3 top choices. Ended up with the BFG's due to the substantial cost savings, especially doing all 7 tires on my triple axle. 6 months in, approx. 10k miles later and they are doing great.

I'm also a big fan of discount tire. We were in San Diego at the time we had the tires done, and they actually sent a tech out to our campground after we realized we couldn't get the trailer into their parking lot.

This is exactly why I bought the BFG's as well. I am a big Michelin fan (run them on my truck and my wife's SUV) but the Ribs were a bit too steep for me. The Duravis also look like a great tire but they were almost $200 more total than the BFG's were. I am sure there have been some failures with the Commercial T/A but the reviews I read of them had many more satisfied owners than dissatisfied. If we were full timing or putting a ton of miles on the trailer I likely would have opted for one of the others.

The trailer seemed to be much smoother on the way home and the tires were just slightly warm when we got home so all is good. Oh, and they have date codes of a combination of 1613 and 1813 so they are quite fresh! The guys at Discount Tire said these are one of their more popular trailer tires so I feel quite confident about the purchase.

Great. Keep them pumped to the max and your set for years of service.
My current 5er has 35k the 2nd set of BFG Commercials. First set ran 55k miles and I've had zero issues. I also run them on another GN flatdeck trailer.

My neighbor lady had them her '00 3500 DRW Dodge and all of her GN long haul trailer. She hauls commercially.
I was impressed with her millage and servise she was getting out of them running at max axle loads 24/7. That sold me on them.

Me too, I had just put on new Commercial TA's about 1 1/2 months prior to the recall. They replaced them with the Michelin XPS but I would have been happy with the BFG's

Good choice!

I had put about eight months on my TAs when they were recalled last year. Discount tire had replacements mounted, balanced, and ready to travel in less than 72 hours. My local manager drove to another store in his personal car to pick up the fourth one for me because he knew that I needed to get on the road for a family reunion.

I'm sorry for you, I lost TWO 0909 BFG Commercial T/A LT 285 85R16 tires in Nov and Dec 2012. First one had a small sidewall delamination. Safely got to a Tire shop to replace it. Second one blew up ONE hour after checking it/leaving campground in Dec and did some damage. BFG denied claim as it 'lost pressure before failing' (Rear Driver's side behind my Dually!). Thanks for nothing BFG. One NEWER BFG Commercial T/A LT 285 Tire I had was recalled last year and replaced with Michelin LTX in September 2012. So I no longer have any faith in the BFG Commercial TA Reputation that resulted in replacing 3 of the 4 BFG Tires I bought based on the advice on this forum.

I went with the Toyo HT with Tuff Duty which is their name for the 3 steel belts. 202.00 a tire at Les Schwab by us. Within 5 miles I noticed a difference in the feel back there when driving, just seemed calmer all around.

X3 on Discount Tire, the one in Rapid City replaced a bad valve stem on the TV and swapped the spare for free. First time I had ever been to a Discount Tire, wish there was one close to us.

Take a look at Bridgetone Duravis R250's. Steel ply carcass like the XPS RIB, just as good and cost less. Chris
