BH suggestion

Hi everyone - I am in the market for a BHTT and am looking for advice/suggestions. We have a 2 year old daughter and one on the way next month. Tow vehicle is a F150 with 5.4L. We would prefer a slide and an outdoor kitchen, the one we are currently considering is the KZ Sportsmen 231BHLE, it looks like it will fit the bill nicely but would like to hear any other suggestions or reviews of that model. Thanks in advance.

  • We own this same model, it used to be a s242sbhss when we purchased ours new in 2014. We have not had any major problems, just the usual maintenance of repacking bearings and I put new (and better) tires on this year. The water line connections were loose when we got it, I tightened them hand tight and since then there has been no leaks. Ours was upgraded with the fiberglass siding and that has held up well. Overall, I think the quality of our KZ trailer is as good or a little better then the Jayco and others that I have owned. This floor plan works well for our family of 4. I may get a bigger TT at some point just to have more seating while watching TV, that would be my only complaint on this floor plan.

I have, owned a Spree for 6 yrs, but long before K-Z was sold to Thor so it's hard to say what quality issues there may be these days. Things I personally wouldn't care for with this Sportsmen - short queen bed, definitely wouldn't opt for the Murphy bed option and thereby limit front pass through storage compartment space, a too small 42" dinette, aluminum exterior skin, outside "kitchen" which for us would be a waste of space when the 2-burner stove is the only thing we'd use, and significant cutaway on those bunk beds which limits leg space. IMO the K-Z Connect C231BH with a full length queen bed, two 40" wide bunk beds, and a really large U-shaped dinette would be a much better choice. :B
  • I purchased a 2017 KZ Sportsman Classic 180bh this last March. I am extremely pleased with the quality of this travel trailer. Everything on it works great and I haven't had any problems with it. I love my travel trailer. When I didn't want the vinyl upholstery on the dinette and preferred fabric, my dealer called KZ and they agreed to use fabric even though it was no longer an option on this year's model. That is what I call great customer service.
  • I've never owned a KZ so really can't give any insight. However, they do have a forum specific for the KZ Sportsman where you might be able to find specific questions answered. It's probably not as active as this web site, and lots and lots of information here, so keep hanging around here too. What one person doesn't know,
    someone else will.
