Good observations on tire shape.
That rounded profile is part of the old ST tire design for a soft ride according to Carlisle. This caused the tire to have more flex. More flex = more heat.
Carlisle new ST RH has more of a LT shape ..... with the flat tread and a less rounded sidewall. Should be a winner for Carlisle.
Next time your following a semi trailer look how flat the sidewalls are. Less flex...less heat.
Tire balance.... not so much.
Mounting a balanced tire/wheel assy on a trailers hub that is not balanced doesn't do much.
IMO the only way to have a balanced tire/wheel/hub assy is spin balance the assy on the trailer the old fashion way and then mark the stems position on the wheel.
Many imbalance issues on a trailer can be tread belt separation which usually starts in one area on the tread causing the tire to have a egg shape
