Big Bend- place to stay

Planning trip to BB this winter, it's new to us, usually go the Florida route. Don't want to stay in the park, like the comforts too much, but want a decent rv park outside of the NP. Any suggestions, never been in this part of the country before, we are Midwesterners. Thanks in advance.
  • There is a park in Marathon that is ok but nothing to write home about. We stayed at the park near Hot Springs. It is literally in a parking lot but had water and electric. The drive to fun stuff was 10 min. compared to an hour from Marathon.
  • we stayed at one on the West side of the park at the junction of 118 and the road to teralingua. just be sure you hook up to the right water system. not the irrigating one.
probably big bend motor in and campground.from looking at DougE's post. don't know what that resort if at that same location. the google world shows nothing else there as of 2-16.

be sure to check out the Star light theater in teralingua.

  • We always stay at Davis mountains state park. About 45 min. From observatory and about 25 min. To Alpine or Marfa. It is a full days trip to big bend national park for hiking.
