After my meticulously maintained and babied 2004 F250 6.0L died from the dreaded cascade failure, and I was told by actual Ford techs that I should have "upgraded this and that, "bullet proof it "and "the other stuff" to improve reliability. HUH? You can't do that here!
So after owning dozens of Ford products in the past AND being a FORMER loyal Ford Guy with 12 Fords in 25 years...I am now officially vaccinated with the "NOMOREFORDS4ME" inoculation.
The 6 new cars myself and my family have purchased after selling off all the Fords

I've got two bought new F-250 Crew Cab 6.0 Diesels, combined miles of over 200,000....both have been reliable and great trucks. I have used Power Service diesel fuel additive in every tank full since new.
The only real quibble I have is that now I am looking to sell or trade in both for 2 new vehicles..the bottom has really dropped out of the wholesale and retail NADA values. For some reason the 2003 is worth more than the less problematic 2004!
This is due to the rampant bashing that goes on constantly from the folks who have no first hand knowledge of these trucks. Considering the vast numbers of the 6.0 diesels that were sold, the "bad" incidents were wildly exagerated in my opinion.
Especially when considering an estimated 1.5 million 6.0 Diesels were sold in F-series and E-series Fords.

You'll hear from the "choir" of people who have no 1st hand ownership info on the 6.0 PSD Engine..bashing and throwing cow pucky at it.
And in truth it is an engine that has had issues for Ford, early 2003 thru mid year 2004 6.0's did have troubles, turbo, EGR, oil cooler, Coolant systems...but the small percentage of the engines with issues compared to the huge number Ford (International) built is low.
And Ford bought back by Ford from the unhappy owners in a few cases.
However, that said, I have a 2003 and a 2004 Ford 6.0 equipped bone stock diesel F250s with a combined 200,000 miles trouble free.
So "take this from a man who ownes one" or in this case 2!

Google "Ford 6.0L Bullet Proof Kit"! EGR cooler kit $1450.00,EGR Delete kit $1400.00, Oil Cooler kit, Head Bolt kits,$3000.00 for a turbo...etc. Never again. Never again a Ford Truck. Never again a Ford Engine. Never, Never again ANY Ford.
