I visited the Bigfoot factory in 2012 while passing thru Armstrong when I was delivering my used 2007 Class C from AB to Vancouver.
I talked to Grant, the president of Bigfoot and his production manager. From the horse's mouth:
Bigfoot guaranteed all loans to Bigfoot dealers in the USA. (co-signed). When the economy went south in 2008 and RV sales slowed, the creditor panicked (I think he said it was GE Finance?) and demanded all RV manufacturer loans and Bigfoot was a tiny fraction of that pie. They pleaded their case, it fell on deaf ears. Bigfoot then went to the Bank of Montreal and was close to a deal but it fell through. It was unfortunate because Canada did not suffer as much as the US. Just before bankruptcy Bigfoot had just invested in a new $150K mold to gear up for more production. The company was broken up and is now a fraction of its original size. Even the famous Bigfoot statue is gone! I wanted my pic beside him, like many Bigfoot owners have done.
BTW, mine is still in perfect shape except the retracting step safety feature quit working. The steps are supposed to retract when the ignition is engaged. I guess I'll have to be diligent using my checklist.
