Black Stone Trailer Anyone?

We are thinking of getting rid of our 30 foot Airstream and purchasing a Black Stone Travel Trailer made by Outdoors RV. We are wanting a true 4 season trailer with a couple of slides because we camp with our grandkids and need more room. Our problem is that there are no dealers that sell these trailers east of California or Utah. We would like to be able to see one in order to get a feel for the quality etc. We live in Central Texas and in September we will be heading north or east for a 2 week trip in our Airstream, and if anyone has a Black Stone that we could see we would really appreciate it. If that won't work, at least tell us where you bought yours, and how you like it. We are thinking about the 280RKSB.
Thanks
  • As a Northwood owner don't worry about warranty work if you buy from a dealer that's not close. Northwood will let you take it to an authorized RV repair facility near you if you need something fixed.
  • There is a big RV show in Pomona the first part of Oct and I know OutdoorRV and Northwood will be there with factory reps. I plan on being there to see them. Or, you could plan a trip to Oregon where they are made, tour the plants and buy one on the trip.
  • We just picked up our TimberRidge 270BH and will be going on our first trip. We looked at all of the OutdoorsRV and Northwood lines at two dealers in our area. As parents with a 4 year old, we wanted the bunkhouse and decided on the TimberRidge. One thing our sales rep and the shop guys all said when we were picking up is that the Blackstone has been a more troublesome line and they have seen more of those back for repair work, meaning out of 150 they sell maybe 5 - 10 come back per year for warranty repair. They stated that they might see one of the TimberRidge's come back in a year. They did add a dealer to the Denver area. Also you can call the sales reps for OutdoorsRV and they are more than willing to help you find a dealer that would have what you want, plus they might know who is in the pipeline for becoming a dealer. Enjoy!
  • I used to have an OutdoorsRV Backcountry (their bunkhouse entry level trailer). The quality of the OutdoorsRV trailer that I had was outstanding. I now have a Desert Fox by Northwood and I can honestly say that the quality in construction of the Backcountry was or seemed at least to be better than that of the Desert Fox. I did not have one issue at all with the OutdoorsRV trailer whereas I have about 5 current issues with the Desert Fox. FYI if you don't already know is that OutdoorsRV is owned by Ron Nash who is the owner of Northwood. Both plants are located in La Grande, OR. The OutdoorsRV uses the Northwood chassis (good thing) and are fantastic 4season trailers. I wouldn't hesitate one bit to get a Blackstone.

Good luck on finding a dealer though. It would seem that you'll have to travel quite a bit to the North to get one. Closest seems to be in Wyoming or Utah.
