Blank Tank Ripper Comes To Elkmont
Just beating a dead horse and promoting awareness at the same time. I've read these threads all summer long and now I had to be behind one of these numbskulls.
We were leaving Elkmont campground up in the Smokies and we pulled into the dump station behind the camper in the photo. Guy in the passenger seat is sleeping. Woman gets out and in flip flops bends over and jerks the black tank valve. Brown water and solids were blasting out everywhere. I could not believe what I was seeing and she stood there watching it with her hands on her hips. My wife (the one with brains) says to me "Maybe they don't have a hose." So I get out of my truck and walk up slowly and ask the woman "Mam, do you need any help? I've got a sewer hose you are welcome to use." "No," she replied a little curtly, "I've got a hose right here" and proceeds to grab the rinse hose from the pole and start washing off the concrete and curb. I'm watching brown splatter go everywhere so I'm not getting any closer. I'm also not confrontational, especially with older women, so I went back to the truck and took the picture you see. To be fair, she did rinse the concrete off quite a bit. But what she never did do was open the grey water valve. I figured she probably dumped into a tote at the site...or not. She finished, got back into her truck and they left. We pull up, empty the tanks, and this is were I got ticked. All the way down the drive to the main road, was a brown stripe of fluid and solids. Their black tank valve was either leaking or not completely closed and******was all over the place. That sent me right across the street to the visitor center to show the rangers the photo and their license plate. I'm a live and let live type of guy, but come on.
