My truck broke down when I was on the road 420 miles from home. Luckily one of my other drivers was 130 miles away in NM. He came and picked up the loaded GN trailer and made the delivery to the customer.
I rented a 28' U haul van and tow dolly....loaded my truck and pulled it home. The problem was a blown head gasket on a 460 Ford with 165k hard worked miles in that era. I had the engine gone through along with the tranny/clutch. Ran the Ford for another 75k-80k miles (2 years) before other components started nickle and dime issues.
