Blocking Sun thru windows

We have day/night shades but the AC needs some help. I notice some TT have foil looking sun blocks on their windows. Are these just auto shades or is there some product specficy made for TT?

Thanks
  • I'm not sure what you're seeing but, I made some for our Southwind.
Use Reflectix insulation and cut it to fit the window.

I use the small suction cups with a hook attached to hang it on the window. Just put a small hole in the insulation and hang it on the suction cup. You can get the suction cups at any craft store or hardware store.

I originally tried stick on Velcro strips to mount the insulation. It worked for a couple days then the heat melted the glue on the strips and they slid off the window.

There are different brands and sizes of reflective insulation. Google bubble foil insulation.

Also, it has not caused any damage to my double pane windows.

    I hope this helps.
  • We have one window that gets afternoon sun in AZ during the winter. I picked up a roll of aluminum faced insulation at Home Depot. About 3/8" thick and just the width of the window. I just slide it under the shade and pull it down. Works great.

I did this for our TC. This really helped with the sun windows. Also keeps the early morning light away which helped the dogs sleep in.
  • I had a window tint shop tint the two windows by our bed nice and dark now and better in the hot sun.

I purchased the tint material from Home Depot a few years ago and did it myself. No big deal -- simple task.
