Putting air in the fresh water tank won't help at all. Blow the air into the city water connection.
I guess I was not clear. My city water connection is where I fill my FW tank. That's where I connect the air to blow out the lines.
No, the tanks should not be filled with air, it will do nothing.
Thanks for clarifying my statement. Sometimes I assume everyone can read my mind. I get that from my wife. :B - dodge_guyExplorer IIDrain the water heater and bypass, pull the low point drains and open all valves to let all the water drain out. run pink through all the lines. then dump enough pink down the drain(s) to flush out the water. don`t forget the toilet and shower hoses also.
RV antifreeze can be bought for $2 a gallon on sale. that's less than $10 to guarantee nothing will freeze and burst in the winter. No one can guarantee that with blowing out only! - Other people mentioned "putting blow out fitting in the city water fitting where you fill the tanks"
To some, that phrase (the bold part) will be confusing. Most RVs have a city water connection separate from the the tank fill inlet. Some have a common connection, and there's some sort of diverter valve that switches the incoming water flow to either tank fill, or "pressurize the lines from the water hose"
All my RVs have two water connections -
1. City water (where you screw in a hose from a spigot at an RV park)
2. Tank fill, where you stick a hose down a spout to fill (gravity feed) a fresh water tank. - TerryallanExplorer IIBlowing the lines, and putting pink in the traps is really all you need to do. The very small amount of water left in the lines will have room to expand with out popping the line. But you need to blow out the faucet valves really good, as if they have water left in them, and then freeze. The -O- rings in the valves will be ruined.
- ScottGNomadI do nothing but blow out the lines (60 psi) and have never had any freeze issues. But I make dang sure everything is blown out.
- Captain_HappyExplorerJust to let you know that by blowing out the water lines does not get all the water out of the lines. If you don't believe what I'm telling you, just pump some pink RV Anti-Freeze through your lines and see how much more comes out. There's low spot in all the lines. Learned this the hard way.

Attach your air hose to the plug and start purging the water from the lines. - Johno02ExplorerAlso make sure that you pour enough antifreeze in the traps to run down into the dump valve lines.
- AcdiiExplorerConnect it to the city water inlet, and dont use more than 40 PSI.
Bypass your water heater first. Once charged go to the closest faucet and open until air comes out, and keep going until all outlets are dry, including the terlet and the drains under the trailer. For the traps pour in a pint of antifreeze.
