There are low points that just blowing air thru will not reach. AND you can't see it. This practice might work in states that don't get below zero but it's an accident waiting to happen in the colder states.
Pour several gallons of anti freeze in fresh water tank. Turn on pump. Open each faucet until solid pink comes out and shut off. Repeat for all faucets including shower and toilet. Done, all lines 100% filled with anti freeze and guaranteed that your water pump is protected also.
12 years and counting living in Northern Wisconsin never had one single water line break which includes way below zero temps MH sitting out in the wide open elements of winter.
No no no no and no. Do not put anything but water in the fresh water tank.
+1!I don't ever put antifreeze in the fresh water tank
. It would take for ever to get the smell and taste out. The small amount of water still in the fresh water tank will just think it is in a big ice cube tray.
If you don't ever put it in how do you know you couldn't get the taste and smell out??? :B
Been doing it for years and so do many other RV'ers. Come spring I'd drain down the lines fill up tank with fresh water and drain 2 times. Third time some bleach goes in. No taste no smell. And the bleach smell and taste comes out with leaving the faucets open for a whole 15 minutes.
Bleach and antifreeze and it's "so-called" taste and smell is a bunch of hog wash. I want lines that don't freeze and I want a fresh water tank with out mold and bacteria growing in it.
RV dealerships and marine dealerships have been doing it this way for YEARS cause it works. If you bought an RV in a cold state......they fill the tanks and lines with pink antifreeze on ALL their RV's on their lots for winter......and you bought one of them the following spring! :B:W:B
