Boat hauling

Anyone want to post what boat your hauling? I will be hauling a 19ft Montauk. How many are using backup cameras? Guess im looking for a confidence boost before hauling first time. Cant get my camera to work its a Camos wireless, the camera came with a Lance 2011 it used to work.Im sure others pull some bigger boats than mine.Be happy when I have some hours under my belt towing, any tips or suggestions on what you keep in mind for avoiding problems? Gas stations campgrounds ect.Now if I could see the boat ,towing with no camper I would haul a 25ft 28ft boat and not be hesitant.

  • Tow a 14 ft Lund. No camera. Almost always have the boat when we go camping. Can't see the boat unless it's sunny then I can see shadow. With a bit of practice you get good at launching it. A camera above the camper door sure would be sweet though!
  • We ...yes I drive too... tow both our 18 ft bass boat and a 22 foot pontoon. Of course we have a low profile pop up that has great visibility, but we have not had any problems(knock on wood). A camera is in our future, but not critical right now. We are able to keep an eye on it...just a bit...if I leave the shade up on the back door and we look thru the back cab window. The extendable side mirrors help as well. Last trip we even left the TC on to launch it.

I wouldn't sweat it if I was you. Just take you time and know your limitations.

Good luck! Hope they are biting!
  • We tow a Classic 17' Montauk and don't have a camera. I can't even see the 17' back there. For this reason I am considering a camera.
Having said that we have had no issues to date...but it would be nice to see the boat while underway.
