Suds is right, that hitch on the GM trucks were junk. You wouldn’t want to pull an RV let alone put an extension or extended trailer tongue on the OEM hitch.

If your step is in the center, it probably won't clear either setup. My Arctic Fox allowed the folding step to be offset to one side which might also be possible on the Northern Lite.

Thanks everyone my V nose trailer the tongue (I guess right name) is only about 3 feet long so length that I think is better than a super truss I have a 10-2excd. I know it will be difficult to put the step down but it would be the same problem with the super truss. The only thing I haul in the trailer is my Harley Limited low

I’ve been towing without an extension for a long time with a cut & stretched trailer tonge.
Many advantages. It’s a little bit harder to hook up but way easier than attaching an extension every time you load/unload your camper.
No weight transfer concerns.
Cheaper.
Tows straighter.

People say there isn’t enough clearance but there’s plenty, I’ve never had a problem.

Disadvantage is it’s custom work, not a bolt-on. But it’s not exactly rocket surgery.

As others have said, you don't need to be a NL owner but having said that, I do have a NL 8.11 SE and I use the following Reese hitch extension.

It works great for me and I haul a PJ Trailer model 8312, which is 83" wide and 12' long. I haul my ATV, coolers, gas etc. on the trailer. I believe mine is pinned at 34" if I remember right which has a rating of 450 lb tongue weight and 4500 lb gross trailer weight.

Like he said, you don't need a N.L. owner. With my N.L. I have Torklift tie-downs' w/fast guns, Super Hitch, and a 48" Truss, could use a 36"or 42"but my first tc (p.o.s.) required a 48". I tow my 18' FLHTRU in a Haulmark Edge in a 8.5 x 16' trailer. You might want to ask Bill or Ryan, about your hitch before he installs your tie-downs, cause TL uses different rear tie downs if you need a TL hitch. Congrats on the new toy!!!

There are people here that lengthen the tongues. Other than making it harder to hookup under the camper, there is no issue with this approach.

You need a class 5 hitch on your truck then get the right towbar to reach pass the camper. You shouldn,t have to cut or modify anything its pretty simple I,ve had this setup for years pulling an enclosed trailer.

Thought about lengthen the tongue of the trailer, cut the frame even use a little heavier steel, the weld is always stronger than the metal. my trailer has a V nose is 12 foot long and has two axles with brakes on all four wheels the trailer will never have more than 900 pounds in it. What do you think of that idea?
