Bought a 305 HP Snowmobile!

Haha! I know that got you guys in snow country attention! (Don't hurt me :p )

I recently bought a 2017 Challenger GT, the new AWD model this year. It's been raining a lot lately, and I've been very impressed with its handling on slick streets.

One review referred to it as "a 305 HP snowmobile". We don't get many opportunities to play in the snow in Little Rock, but the roads still get slick from time to time. It's been fun to drive, and I love the color. "Contusion Blue" :B





Hmmm, TC tie-in........TC tie-in.............

How do you think it would do on the White Rim Trail?

    Congrats!! Very nice looking. I didn't know the Challenger was available in AWD. Did it replace on of your 'Birds?

    The AWD GT is a new Challenger model for 2017. The Charger, which is built in the same location, has had an AWD model for a few years now. They had to make some significant design changes to fit it in the Challenger. The only engine option in the GT is the 3.6L V6, which makes a respectable amount of HP and torque, but of course is no Hemi.

    I was ready to try something new, so I sold my '05 T-Bird. It's kind of nice having a useable back seat and trunk again.

    But, if you are experiencing a mid-life-crisis, care if I come over and share it with you? I passed my mid-life-crisis about 30 years ago! I've been driving Mini-Vans, SUVs, and pick-up trucks way to long now.

    Oh wait ... I'm going to get to enjoy my second childhood soon. Better get the Tonka Trucks ready!

    ...but am not so sure it will do all that well in snow even though it is "AWD." I say that only on the experience of my brother's Chrysler 300 which also is "AWD" but IIRC it is only 2WD in reverse. He had a rough time getting out of my driveway backing out with only a minuscule amount of snow... otherwise he loves that car!

    I wonder if your car also does not have all 4 engaged in the reverse position?

    I'll have to make note of what's happening in reverse the next time I have an opportunity. The AWD is totally under the control of the car, but there is an info screen that tells you what mode it's in.

    Should have bought a Mustang ... although you do have a Thunderbird. Seriously though, have fun! :)

    Does it have all terrain tires?

    OK... I like topics such as this on a slow Friday... it gets my web surfing juices going.

    Soooo.... just from the title of this thread I started with wondering if there were such a machine as a high horsepower traditional snowmobile. Sure enough, there are gearheads that make 'em: 327 POLARIS PART 2 CHEVY V8 SNOWMOBILE

    Next vid on the side bar that caught my attention was 16 Worlds Craziest Snowmobiles

    This led to what might be one of the best winter activitiy recreational vehicle setup... but it is not a TC! Airstream Basecamp & Tucker Sno-cat
