The truck in my signature has been costing me $ in repairs & expensive maintanance for too long now. 16 spark plugs every 30K miles, many tie-rod ends (& I don't crank the wheels while standing still), 20" tires, power steering leaks, A short in the dash making the lights flicker, replaced original fog lights because original mounts broke.....Never owned a GM truck, but everything I see about the 2014 Silverados looks promising including better fuel mileage. My Dodge only ever gives me a mixed driving non-towing MPG of about 11. Towing about 8 mpg. Non-towing hwy was a solid 16mpg. I still only expect around 9-10 towing but that would be better than the 8 I get now & I never tow faster than 63 mph. When I go camping it's time to relax & that includes the drive to my destination.New truck is still 500 miles from my dealer but there are only 5 w/max tow pkg within 500 miles of here so I must wait a few days. Any words of wisdom from any other 2014 Silverado owners?

Well, I've never owned a Chevy truck. I do know others that have 2013's and love them. Enjoy your new truck!

Congratulations on your move to GM. We have the NHT (max tow) package on our 2011 and IMO, it is the best truck I have ever owned. Still have 4 PSD trucks on the ranch to use and I drive the GM as my truck, because I think it is a better truck. I routinely tow a 10K load, with a gooseneck trailer here in the west and it does an excellent job.

I've checked out the 2014 Silverado myself and I think you've made an excellent decision. Congratulations on your new truck.

Congrats on having an open mind to switching brands!!

An ounce of that could go miles on this board :)

I'm in a Chevy Duramax currently and love it but would jump to another brand in an instant if things lined up correctly. You can't go wrong with new technology. Safer, more efficient, more reliable and of course more comfortable and less to worry about.

Good point! Same power output as Ford's 5.0L

Congratulations!

Couple of folks I know with the new 2014 5.3's are reporting consistent highway mileage in the low 20's at interstate speeds (EPA MPG 4x2 16/23, 4x4 16/22).

Consider the 2014 5.3L has very close power to the 2007.5+ HD 6.0L which most owners like towing up to maybe 12k pounds. Power won't be a problem. Enjoy!

Friend at church has a 14 sierra and he loves it so far !! starting to see a bunch of new 14 GM trucks on road !! They sure look good !!! have fun with yours!!

I own a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 it has been a great truck, only problem so far was I had to change the solenoid for the charcoal canister filter for the gas tank. But that was a easy fix.

The one I ordered is with the 5.3 liter motor. It does seem to be scarce.

I just received my 2014 Chevrolet 1500 crew cab. I ordered it built at the factory (in Mexico) with the 6.2 engine and Max trailer package. The order was placed on 10-31-2013 and I received the truck on 02-11-14. 3 months and twelve days of agony!!

The Max trailering package and the 6.2 engines are very scarce in the market place. Here in north texas, you will have a difficult time finding one on a dealers lot. The 6.2 engine seems to be slowing production of the 2014 1500 series truck. That is my guess! The plant closed for two weeks at Christmas. I have not towed yet, but will in a couple days. Be thankful you have located a 1500 with the Max trailer package. What engine did you decide upon?

I just serviced a 2003 Silverado 5.3 for a friend and it has 401,000 miles on it. The engine runs just as nice an quiet as can be.
