GM TV, so has the best brake pedal switch with about 0.015" movement to
turn it on and is the basis for best/better trailer braking, IMHO

A brand new Prodigy P3 is about $130 on sale/Amazon/etc
My P3 and touch the Suburban's brake pedal without moving the MC rod
will turn on the trailer brakes to whatever preset have dialed in
Can stop the whole thing without ever getting the TV brakes turned on,
albeit takes a bit longer to come to a stop during testing. As the whole
setup decelerates, the P3's accelerometer will take over to increase
power to the trailer brakes
Can push the brake pedal a bit farther to turn on the TV's brakes and
get them into the game...
Key is setting up the trailer brake controller correctly and am sure
that is the problem with most who complain about bucking/etc. Also
adjusting/tuning/repairing the trailer brakes another key issue
Suggest you consider getting a new P2 or P3...same functionality, except
the P3 has more display stuff
