Mine has a hole...all but just big enough to get filter out. I spin off the filter and let it rest on the cross member, I then reach in and put finger in the hole and yank it out in one fluid motion. This is my first Ram a 2015 Dually and have changed the oil 4 times now and have yet to make a mess by the filter. Yes a touch may splash out or what ever bu no more of a mess than when I used to change my 7.3L Ford.
