I made a device that I welded to a my hitch stinger to support long lumber but it worked great for my kayak. That said they sell them, not necessarily for kayaks but for long loads. Pay attention to state law requiring a flag or light. Most states say anything hanging over by 4' requires one or both. Ditto on inflatables which is what I now have. The Intex that sells for a little over $100 on Amazon seems to be well made but I've only used it once.
