Broke my TV torque wrench

I have a Sanp-On 3/8" and 1/2" and a Maco Tools 3/4". Although the Sears/Craftsman digital read out that vibrates and beeps are very nice also!

Glanced at the paperwork, yes said to calibrate it annually :W Also said to unload to the lowest setting (50) when not in use. I didn't know that nor did I ever do it with the broken one. Even came with a certificate of calibration. $60 ain't bad over a 10-20 life span.

Craftsman has really gone down hill lately. I was in Sears a couple months back and I'd say at least 50% of their Craftsman tools were made in China.

Yeap! Chinaman Tools now.. You can still find vintage ones at Pawn and garage sales. I have a Snapon torque wrench which is around 20 years old and going strong.

Son's 1 year old 3/8" drive Craftsman torque wrench says, "Made in USA" right on the handle. Just borrowed it from him and ran out into the garage to check.

But I'll agree with the above that Sears is bringing in a lot of China junk and branding it with the Craftsman name.

Any suggestions? Yes, have looked at both Harbor Freight and Northern Tool. A few other no name, but with that kind of money...even the 'cheap'
ones are hundreds of bucks

Might just make a doubler extension for my 1/2" torque wrenches (150 ft/lb and 250 ft/lb)

Bar stock with a male 3/4" on one end and a female 1/2" on the other
end. Butt ugly and HEAVY, but it will do...

Me too Ben, but I have to put the reading glasses on to read it now days so it just sets in the roll off now. Picked up the Kobalt half inch from Lowe's today. Works great. Its about 6 inches longer than my old one and even came with a case. I double checked the 24 lugs from the old one to make sure they were correct, they were all good. Guess the screws falling out was it's demise.

When still building engines, had expensive setup (micrometers, blocks,
gauges, several torque wrenches, etc). That Kennedy roll around tool
chest was stolen when dad had an addition to their house. I built a
3 car garage in the back, which had access to an alley.

There were two Kennedy Roll around tool chest (each a bottom and top)
and of course the one with my best tools, about $40K worth, was taken
by one of the contractors). Dad was clueless on this kind of stuff

Was mainly a Craftsman based...as that life time warranty and always
had a Sears 'open' nearby. No more and haven't settled on any one
brand. Even saw some of the neighbor's Snap-on with 'Made in China'

No more engine building, so have 3 Craftsman (two 150 ft/lb and inch/lb).
The 250 ft/lb is a Kobalt or something like that.

Still have my beam torque wrench from high school days

High stressed assemblies will have me borrow and the general stuff
the above good enough for me.

Key is that all of the bolts for 'that' assembly are very close in
torque so that they all share equally. If one is either looser or
tighter, it will stress un-evenly

My pistol IR gun is from Northern-tools...IIRC $39 on sale. Radio Shack
has two. The one like a key fob stopped working after about 2 years.
The pistol grip is about 5 years old and still working. I use it everywhere
even cooking or baking
