Broken key, locked out of TT, no spare :(

Just returned from a trip and my wife said she couldn't get the TT unlocked. I tried it and sure enough, the deadbolt was stuck. I tried to turn the key (didn't even use that much force) and the darn key broke. Sadly, the previous owners didn't give us a spare and of course, of all the times I swore I'd get a copy made, I never did. All windows are tightly shut. No, I can't get inside the bed via storage. I *may* be able to get a kid to squeeze through rear storage but not sure I can make it happen. Any ideas? Bust a window and replace later? :( Even so, can it be unlocked from inside?

Locksmith?

Much appreciated.

That may be the direction we'll be going. And I guess I'll need to order a whole new lock and keys and replace it.
On the bright side you will have two sets of keys. If you are careful with a flat pry bar you might be able to pry it enough to get the door open without damaging the frame or door.
  • See if the local sheriff's office will bring an inmate from their jail preferably one charged with burglary or auto theft. They will get in before you can blink your eyes!

Just kidding, of course. Sorry you are going through this and hope it works out good for you.

Many handle locks can be opened with a master key, but not the more secure deadbolt.
  • If it was like my Springdale,I would try to jimmy the escape hatch window with a coat hangar...

    Good luck...As said,maybe a locksmith..

I wonder if one could saw off the deadbolt with a reciprocating saw and Diablo blade. I have a battery powered one and a plug in but only carry the battery one.
  • My trailer has external storage that leads to the inside. I was able to open the storage door that goes under the dinette bench and send a neighbor kid through the storage bay into the trailer, where she came around and opened the door. Just a thought.
