bug spray

Comet or Borax works great sprinkled around the tires and jacks and cords and stuff. Easy to do when setting up. And cheap - Dollar Store! :)

That probably was the only thing that WAS funny the first time I got those palmetto bugs in my bay from leaving those darn plastic storage tubs 'outside' the MH.

I didn't know I had them until I got back up to Wisconsin and they were in my bays. I took everything out and scrubbed everything and spayed.

I saw one lowly one jump from the bay and run into the woods. HAH!
unbeknown to that bugger he would be dead by night fall when the temps dropped to freezing. Bet then he wouldn't be so glad he hitched a ride up North! :B

Thank God they are real sensitive to cool temps. I've seen them down here in Florida die off when it just got down to the mid 40's.

I absolutely swear by the bug granules you can buy at HD or Lowes that you sprinkle around the border of the camper, particularly where the tires and jack meet the ground. Since it's easy enough to do it I throw a bit under the camper as well. Mine lives on a site so it's worth the nominal expense. In 3 years I haven't done anything else except ant traps once and it was my fault because the counters didn't get wiped down well enough. Also, if you're only camping for the weekend that's barely enough time for the treatment to work a whole lot, in fact it just gets them on the move to get away from the treatment.

It won't damage the RV but it will coat every surface with poison. Do you intend to wash all surfaces before using the RV?

I'm thinking about a small bug bomb when I park the RV for a week or so. My summer is all booked up with season passes to the local theme park and pretty much every other weekend booked at the local CG nearest to the theme park. Since the RV will be parked for two week stints I am guessing the bug bomb would stay around in the locked up RV long enough to put up a barrier and not be a problem when we go get her. I'm not sure if setting off the bomb would cause damage to the RV interior or not? I'll have to email the manufacturer to see what they say beofre I do as I surely do not want to void my warranty.

I thought of doing that while in Florida but IMHO the MH is just to small of an area to spray toxic chemicals in. For me and the dogs.

I've had real good luck with being prudent with the Sevin sprinkled around the tires and hoses leading into the MH.

The only time I had that problem one time was when I stayed a month in one CG deep in the woods and put a few of my plastic storage tubs outside on the ground. Palmetto bugs live in the woods under leaves and such.

That's how I found out about those darn holes they put in them under the handles. :R I've since taped off all the holes on all my storage tubs.

To the OP in Georgia those flying roaches as you call them were probably June Bugs. They aren't real bright and slam into the sides of the RV's at night usually committing suicide!

No I don't do that. I fear the toxic bug poison far more than I fear a few bugs. For one thing it doesn't discriminate, it kills beneficial bugs as well as bad bugs. Plus it is poisonous to humans and pets.

Only trouble I ever had was ants, sprayed the power cord where they were coming in and placed a few ant traps inside the trailer, problem gone in a few days.

Ants have been my biggest issue in the past with our old Hybrid. Our storage facility is all grass, not paved. Our new TT has not been a problem yet. The nearest paved storage is about $60 a month more, not worth it to me.

On a side note, we stay in south GA often and they have the most amazing flying roaches or whatever you call them at night. They were all over the camper, we could hardly open the door. Not fun!
